FOR SALE: ASKING $4,000 (FIRM) AND AT STUD UNTIL SOLD:
Baptiste Jay Cheyadow or Jay has lovely, mellow foals that are easy to train and handle. Jay is a very mellow horse as well. His bloodlines are 97% Foundation and bred on Canada. Jay has nice foals of size, 15+ hands, all over the west coast and Canada. Jay was born in 2002, a solid 14.3H and 1000 pounds. We handle him with just a halter and lead rope until breeding time when the stud chain comes on so he knows it is time to go to work. Most times when breeding mares they are in foal with one cover.
Why sell him? Hardly anyone is breeding their Morgan mares here and if anyone is still breeding then they have their own studs. We do not need two stallions for one broodmare here. We have decided to see if we can find Jay a breeding home with registered Morgan broodmares first when he has gorgeous foals. Maybe someone will want an easy, mellow stallion or I will geld him and sell that way. This very sweet, easy to handle stallion already has 50+ foals on the ground. Jay would be a very sweet trail horse for someone even as a stallion. He has primarily been used for breeding so his riding skills will be tuned up in this spring if not sold.
When I mentioned I was going to geld him this past winter, I heard from many of his owners of his foals asking that we do not do that. Jay is still a stallion so if he is not sold to a breeding I will tune up and show him this summer as a stud. His price will go up with more training. He would show in halter and Western Pleasure classes and will work on current riding videos.
Jay has over 30 purebred foals in the US and Canada and about 25 partbred foals. See some of his foal photos on the bottom of this page and a partial list of their names for purebred Morgans in the US and Canada.
Jay is a rare color in Morgans, a cremello or tan with two blue eyes so he will have foals of color depending on the color behind the broodmares bred to him. More on colors here: www.morgancolors.com We are not color breeders here. I look for personality and conformation plus saw Jay's nice foals which is why we bought him. I consider a fun color just icing on the cake.
Breeding details: Stud fee is only $500 introductory fee or welcome back to Spokane through this 2017 breeding season. This price is no indication of the quality of his foals. We just like more Jay foals on the ground. All the usual breeding guarantees including live foal guarantee. Mare care is $5 a day dry and $10 a day wet. AI fees are the responsibility of the mare owners and cost around $300. For live cover, we do prefer mares stay at least two months or two cycles so we can keep teasing to make sure they are covered or the mare owners can pay for an ultrasound from a local vet to confirm they are in foal before leaving. When breeding we expect half down on arrival and the other half is due when the mares leave here. We also do multi mare and 4H discounts.
